This souvenir pin shows the 1954 Cleveland Indians, a team that set an American League record with 111 victories. No AL team won more in a 154-games season. Only the 1998 Yankees (with 114 wins in 162 games) have notched more victories in a season. The Indians boasted a starting staff with three Hall of Famers--Bob Lemon, Early Wynn and Bob Feller. Their leading hitters were Larry Doby, the first African American in the AL, and Bobby "Beto" Avila, baseball's first Latino batting champion. Al Lopez, also a Hall of Famer, became the first Latino to manage a major league team to a pennant.
